Sister's Conference
In Women's conference Sister Marriott talked about a pitcher. My thoughts reflected back to this verse: Jacob 7:8, "But behold, the Lord God poured in His spirit into my soul, insomuch that I did confound him in all his words."    This is when Sherom denies Christ and demands a sign from Jacob. Jacob was worthy and ready to receive an increase of the Holy Ghost and obeyed the promptings on what to say.
Did Jacob wake up one day with a pitcher or spiritual bucket big enough that the Lord could 'pour His spirit' into- and Sherom's fiery darts would be quenched? No. We are given 'line upon line' or bucket by bucket, slowly getting bigger as we are able to hold more.
Jesus Christ is the living water. He always is flowing and willing to fill us. We are like pitchers or cups- able to hold and obtain the water. Sometimes as we do daily little things we are filled drop by drop. Other spiritual activities- like temple attendance may cause us to fill much faster.
We are asked to serve and love our fellow men. "The world is in need of your help. There are feet to steady, hands to grasp, minds to encourage, hearts to inspire, and souls to save. The blessings of eternity await you. " (President Monson) Might I add spiritually thirst souls to quench.
We have the agency and ability to go to living waters, be filled then share the out poring of spirit with others- filling them with Christ's love.
We can choose the size of pitcher we bring unto the Lord. We can adjust the amount of water we let in by how open we are at the top.
With General Conference coming up, may we all be prepared to receive an out pouring of the spirit that we can then carry out to the world filing those in need. Let us bring with us questions and a open heart to lean and be filled.
I love you all! Have a wonderful week!!!
