Katelyn Elgaaen in Utica New York: October 2, 2017 Conference!!

So, This week we went and saw a new investigator about every day, and had many wonderful lessons. The problem for me is, she Only speaks Spanish. But Sister Baird knows enough that when our fellow shipper and translator is unable to come, we can still share a gospel topic.

Another amazing person that Sister Baird and I are teaching is a man named Tommy. He is a very deep thinker and at first did not have any desire to read from the book of Mormon. By the second lesson- He recognized Heavenly Father's hand in his life and was praying to actually receive the desire to read the book of Mormon!! We watched one session of conference at his home with a recent convert, and HE got his answer! Right when the person was speaking on the Book, he opened it (which is HUGE) and read the introduction!!! It was wonderful to see that Heavenly Father does answer questions we ask him during conference- even if we don't admit that we were really wondering.

I LOVED conference and decided to just smash together a few things that I learned for myself.

Heavenly Father does know and love us. We are on a wondrous journey, a migration to our Heavenly Home. On our way we must stop occasionally and uplift others- what good is it to fix the world when those around us are falling apart? (Service is the very fiber which the celestial kingdom is spun and woven) Because Heavenly Father loves us, He asks us to be perfect and allow him to do the thinking an writing in our lives. He asks us to keep on peddling, for if we stop the bike will fall. He also asks us to be willing to let him move us on the chessboard of life. Our time on earth and away from our heavenly Home is as fleeting as a British summer- so we must center our faith and desires on our Savior Jesus Christ. He trusts us and is ready to bless us, we need not fear and must just look beyond what we can see and understand now. He does have a plan.

There is a treasure chest awaiting what we will find in rereading conference talks. I hope that all of us were able to find answers to questions, and comfort during this past general conference. I know that if we re read and ponder anew these talks- we will continue to find revelation.

I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of the Lord. He is called and chosen to lead this church. Those who follow Him and listen to his council will never falter on the path- because He speaks the words of a loving God.
